About the event

Epoque Quartet, currently celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2024, invites you to a unique evening where classical music merges with the rhythms of jazz, folklore, and film melodies. This renowned ensemble, known for its virtuosity and genre versatility, has secured a firm place on both the Czech and European music scenes. They will present a vibrant program that appeals to lovers of classical music as well as fans of more modern musical styles.

The evening will begin with the energetic piece "Misirlou" by Dick Dale, the legendary surf rock melody that became a symbol of musical revolution. This will be followed by "LIDOVQUE," an original suite by Alexey Aslamas, inspired by the beauty of Czech and Moravian folk songs. Bedřich Smetana’s works, arranged by Alexey Aslamas, such as "Innocence," "Fairytale," and "Desire," will blend Czech musical tradition with the subtlety of a string quartet. Composer Jan Kučera will provide a deep and intimate experience with his composition "Birth," after which the audience will be transported into the world of jazz with Pat Metheny's pulsating piece "Minuano" and the emotional "Ave Maria" by Astor Piazzolla.

The concert will conclude with Django Reinhardt's nostalgic "Minor Swing," the Latvian folk song "Put Veini," and the well-known melody from the film The Tall Blond Man with One Black Shoe by Vladimir Cosma. This evening will offer a rich palette of musical colors sure to captivate a broad audience.
